bigger hit. Oscars, Golden Globes, and other honors are included; also, critical
acclaim can earn the same credit as box office dollars.
2) Magazines: Over 100 U.S. and international publications are included in
each survey. Magazines on newsstands during the survey period count most
heavily; recent magazines of the previous few weeks count at reduced value.
Covers earn more points than inside features; top-level magazines (Playboy,
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Esquire, GQ, Maxim, etc.) are accorded higher
value than others; nude or semi-nude layouts get extra credit. Newspapers (most
notably USA Today) and pin-up calendars are also included in this category.
3) TV: What’s on the tube during the survey period, including first-run
movies and appearances on late-night talk shows; Nielsen ratings and Emmy/Golden
Globe awards are also taken into consideration.
4) Internet: The major factors in this category are the Lycos Top 50, a
weekly chart measuring the most-searched items through the Lycos search engine
(including many glamour girls), and the daily top 100 rankings by DAI News
tracking the women with the most photo downloads. Selected Web sites are also
