Anthony Wong! Shu Qi! Donnie Yen! Details On Andrew Lau's LEGEND OF CHEN ZHEN!

As mentioned by X yesterday, next on the docket for the incredibly busy Donnie Yen is a starring role in Andrew Lau's The Legend Of Chen Zhen. But beyond the title, we knew very little about what Lau had planned other than that it would - apparently - be a continuation of the Chen Zhen story. Chen Zhen, for those unfamiliar, is the role played by Bruce Lee in Fist of Fury and Jet Li in Fist of Legend, a legendary Chinese martial artist who struggled against the Japanese occupation of China during the war.

The Fist of Fury / Fist of Legend story ends with Chen staging his own death to achieve peace for his people before being whisked away to live out his life in hiding. And that's where Andrew Lau comes in ...

According to WuJing.org this new story picks up seven years later with Chen returning to once again struggle against Chinese collusion with the Japanese, with the collaboration this time occurring in the criminal underworld. Also playing key roles will be Shu Qi and Anthony Wong while Gordon Chan serves as producer. Martial arts choreography? That's being handled by Yen himself and given how much Donnie idolizes Bruce Lee I think it's probably time to dust off the original film to see where he's going with this ...

Presumibilmente ieri sabato 14 novembre, si è svolta la conferenza stampa di presentazione del film "Legend of Chen Zhen" con tutto il cast di attori completo composto da Donnie Yen, SHU Qi ed Anthony Wong. Il regista del film sarà Andrew Lau che abbiamo potuto vedere nell' ottima pellicola romantica Look for a Star con sempre nel cast la bella attrice taiwanese. Vai con le fotooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

'Chen Zhen' starts shooting near Shanghai

HONG KONG -- Production got underway Monday on "Chen Zhen," a martial arts actioner being directed by "Infernal Affairs" co-director Andrew Lau Wai-keung.

Set in 1920s Shanghai, the film features Donnie Yen ("Ip Man," "Highlander: Endgame") as a local resistance fighter who had been taken for dead after a bloody skirmish. After an absence of seven years he returns in disguise to uncover a plot linking the triads and the Japanese.

The film stars Anthony Wong ("Infernal Affairs," " The Mummy 3: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor") and Shu Qi ("If You Are The One," "Transporter"). Yen also doubles as action director.

Script and production are by Gordon Chan ("Painted Skin") for Hong Kong's Media Asia and China's Shanghai Film Group through their joint venture alongside Beijing-based Guoli Changsheng and Enlight Pictures as co-producer. Media Asia is also handling international sales and recently scored deals with TF1 for French-speaking Europe and Dream Pictures for Australia and New Zealand.

Filming is near Shanghai and is expected to continue until February.
